Today, I am celebrating my 15th Anniversary as a Real Estate Consultant and working for the oldest and leading real estate consultancy firm in East Africa, Tysons Limited, established in 1923, in Nairobi, Kenya. I have had the privilege of serving numerous emerging and high net-worth individuals, as well as corporates including banks, Housing Finance, Financial Consultants such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte, Oil Companies, Industrialists, Insurance Companies, Pension Schemes, Co-operative Societies, Investment Groups, Government of Kenya, SMEs, Blue Chip companies such as Telkom and BAT, Universities and Schools, Hotel Chains and Safari camps, as well as large scale Commercial Farms etc. I have traversed the country; from Mt. Kenya to Suswa at the floor of the Rift Valley, from the cool and wet Kericho County to the sun scotched and sandy Wajir County, from the expansive Nairobi Metropolis to the Millennium village town of Bar Sauri in Siaya County.

I have been an expert witness in many occasions in the High Court of Kenya, Rent Tribunals, Compulsory Land Acquisition Inquiries and numerous arbitrations for various individuals and organizations.

My key areas of expertise are:

  • Valuation of all Real Estate classes
  • Feasibility Studies & Investment Appraisal
  • Project Planning, Implementation and Management
  • Environmental Impact Assessment and Audit
  • Personal Real Estate Planning

I strive to keep abreast with local and international professional practice. One main activity which helps me fulfill this is coaching post graduate students aspiring to be Registered Valuers in urban and rural valuation. This year, as a member of the Examination Board of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya, I led the team preparing the Valuation syllabus to be adopted in the year. I also actively participated in the preparation of the Estate Agents Registration Board’s Strategic Plan 2011-2015.

I believe that the best real estate consultant is the one who shares the most information with others. The more you share with others the more you learn. To this I have therefore devoted myself to lifelong learning. I straddle two professions; my primary training is real estate (first degree) while my secondary training is information systems engineering (masters degree). I am currently pursuing PhD. in Real Estate.

At my leisure I practice shotokan karate, a 1st dan black belt. I am happily married to Priscah and together we are blessed with Manu, David and Angel.

My Mission

To develop unparalleled competence in real estate investment and to collate and share useful real estate information with interested parties to attain collective dreams

My Vision

To be the most reliable resource person in real estate consultancy

      Dear Jackie,
The Kenyan real estate sector has out-performed many other sectors of the economy. A couple of years back when the sector in many large economies were heading south, the story here was different as we enjoyed a steady growth. I therefore encourage you to venture into the industry. Your budget will be very important. I also invite you to read my article: Capital Gains verses Rent Income: Which way for the investors?
